An Ocean Will Come Through The Rivers of My Veins and It Will Love as Deep As It Is And As Steady As It Beats.

Barbara Walters famously asked Katherine Hepburn what kind of a tree she was. Though she received large scruntiny for the question, I have always known I'm an oak.

This Mother's Day I caressed my mother's love with flowers. Christmastimes, tulips, daisies or roses- a woman is not a flower nor a decorative ornament. She has substance inside, she's a tree. She stands tall, no matter what height she is. She stays strong no matter how old she ages. Everyone else around her is an ornament to her own design.

But a mother's love is a flower. A flower planted strong within the cores of earth. And her love grows again and again, always beautiful, but always in a new found design.

Happy Mother's Day.

What kind of tree are you?

  1. This is such a beautiful post.
It makes me feel ashamed that I didn't do much on mother's day =P
Ummm..... I am a eucalyptus tree.Eucalyptus gives you gum and stuff sticks to it-like my magnetism and charisma=P(That's so cheesy)
Eucalyptus' leaves are the shade of brilliant green and its slender ivory branches remind me of Gene Tierney.
More than identifying with eucalyptus I think I am in love with it.
Did you do the decorations? They're so elegant.

  2. beautiful poem Lillian :) I would be a palm tree because growing up, they've shaded me away during the hottest and worst times and they bear fruit to such sweet dates. I used to despise dates as a kid and now I'm in absolute adoration, they're nature's sweet sweet candy!

PS. I never noticed your 'about me' or if you changed it recently, but we have so much in common, i smiled while readin the french vogue, goodwill hunting....i love that movie!

  3. A Eucalyptus tree sounds like a wonderful tree to be :) Yes, well it's my dinning room table decorations, but I set up the brunch.

I changed my 'about me' section to this thing they do for you at school on the pamphlets if your in a musical. Its really fun. I love Goodwill Hunting too, but I actually meant shopping at the Goodwill lol. Yes! There's something about reading Parisian Vogue that tickles whips me haha.
