I just received one of those pamphlets your read when your relentlessly bored and feeling quite pretentious. Or just feeling dreamy, really. I would love to go to SummerScape though. I don't know which play I would choose. I think I actually would love to watch Pandora's Box, which I have never seen.
Here Are Some Silly Little Things That Make Life Meaningful To Me:
- Fetching the mail and finding pamphlets of arts festivals and such.
- Pretending I made up Oscar Wilde quotes at parties, then confessing last minute.
- Watching my sister ride her unicycle around the skate park.
- Frozen yogurt and mini-golf..all at once.
- The first few seconds of ignorance, and oblivion.
- Genuinely not knowing who a reality star is.
- Flipping through the pictures of National Geographic.
- Reading F. Scott Fitzgerald with a dictionary in my other hand, mostly ending up reading the dictionary. But, thinking of the present in retrospective that it will all help me with my SATs (and YES, it does).
- Not reading F.Scott Fitzgerald with a dictionary in the other hand (like breathing the new spring air).
- Making up silly little lists.
- That moment when I'm researching something I'm passionate about and finally the tables turn to somewhere new (it's like finding matching numbers on a Sodoku puzzle, wondering, as you change paths, whether this is the right one).
- Reading old diary experts back to myself.
- Reading the newspaper to see an issue discussed that I talk about relentlessly.
- Admiring objectively at something trivial I created, such as the royal stamp I put on a white envelope and the my beautiful cursive I used for the addresses marked by my imperial black pen.
- Getting free pamphlets on the street (but then sadly not knowing what to do with it).
- Wearing deliciously huge hats to summer festivals with friends and acting like your cool, (not buzzed) with the attention.
- Suddenly speaking with someone in their own accent.
- Looking deep and falling in love with someone's creative eye.
- Laughing at British humor.
- Openly discussing the difference between Cafe Bellisimo chocolate chip cookies and Chocolate Springs cookies.
- Liking Jazz music, but always switching the dial when it comes up on the radio.
- When 'Crocodile Rock' comes on the radio.
- Creating folders for a new set of papers which materialized into a new sudden group to categorize.
- Looking at my math equations as though I was a ten year old, then being proud of myself.
- Watching intellectually gifted adults with horrible handwriting write me something on a post-it.
- When I tell someone I'm horrible at tennis, and then we play and they're a small bit surprised.
- When I realized that as long as I'm happy with myself, I don't care what other people think.
This is so adorable.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the math equation thing. I suppose everyone feels so when they get a correct answer especially in maths.
